Following the devastating fire incident at the Yola market, Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has issued a directive for the establishment of a specialized committee tasked with designing and planning a new structure to replace the burnt market.
The proposed remodelled market structure will entail a comprehensive redesign and expansion plan aimed at providing a more organized and accessible space for business activities. This initiative comes in response to Governor Fintiri’s commitment to swiftly reconstruct the facility, as announced during his visit to the market on Monday.
The Governor emphasized the importance of expediting the reconstruction process to mitigate the impact of the fire on traders and the local economy. He pledged to commence the reconstruction within one month, underscoring his administration’s proactive approach to addressing critical infrastructure challenges.
The Committee, composed of skilled professionals including architects, engineers, town planners, quantity surveyors, and builders, will be tasked with developing a design that meets modern standards while prioritizing functionality and user convenience. The aim is to create a shopper-friendly destination that fosters a conducive environment for business activities.
Governor Fintiri has set a strict deadline for the Committee, mandating them to submit their report within three weeks without delay. This demonstrates the government’s commitment to expedite the reconstruction process and restore normalcy to the affected area as soon as possible.
The formation of this expert Committee reflects Governor Fintiri’s proactive leadership and commitment to the well-being of the people of Adamawa State. By prioritizing the reconstruction of the Yola market, the government aims to provide essential support to traders and revitalize economic activities in the region.
